Community Education Unaccredited Courses

Galway City Partnership, in conjunction with the Galway Roscommon Education Board (GRETB), provide a wide range of unaccredited courses twice a year. These classes normally start in February and September, last for eight weeks, taking place one day per week for a period of two hours, generally from 10am until 12 noon. The courses are free to all in receipt of a social welfare payment and part-time workers. The courses are held in the:

  • Westside Resource Centre
  • Ballybane Resource Centre
  • Ballinfoile Castlegar Neighbourhood Centre

The aim of the courses is to give adult learners a brief experience of a return to education in a very casual and relaxed manner. We run the classes in a variety of subjects, including:

  • Yoga
  • Art
  • Hairstyling
  • Cookery

to name but a few. We also work with a number of other agencies around the city such as Employability, Brothers of Charity, Cope and the HSE. Individuals wishing to join a course will be required to register their details with Geraldine or Donnacha at one of our registration days, in each of the Resource Centres, prior to the start of your preferred course. Registration also takes place in the Galway City Partnership offices on the Headford Road in Galway City (above LIDL and Argos) and is ongoing throughout the year.
