The Eastside Men’s Shed

Eastside Men’s Shed was set up in 2012 in the Ballybane Sports & Social Co-op located in Oldenway Business Park, Old Monivea Road. Men’s Sheds provides a social space for men to meet, socialise and work on various projects. Over the past year Eastside Men’s Shed members have completed courses in woodturning, DIY, car maintenance and upholstery.  Foroige have also ran a successful 10 week bike maintenance course in the Men’s shed that enabled young people to repair and build bicycles.

These courses provided the members with the skills to undertake new projects including bird boxes, dog kennels, flower boxes , picnic tables and seats which are all produced to a high standard. All items produced in the shed are available to purchase by the wider community at very reasonable rates. This will help finance the running of the shed. The shed is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday.

The workshop is equipped with woodturning blades, vices and all types of power tools. Eastside Men’s Shed is a valuable asset to the community in Ballybane as it is open to everyone and brings men together from all walks of life. Annual membership fees entitles members to full use of the workshop and tools. Membership fees are €35 (unwaged) and €50 (waged)
