Community Connection Project
The Community Connection Project works to foster understanding, inclusion, and collaboration between local communities and new arrivals across Ireland.
The project aims to build community resilience, counter misinformation, and support positive, informed engagement around the arrival and integration of International Protection Applicants (IPAs).
Funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and coordinated nationally through the Irish Local Development Network, the CCP operates through Local Development Companies across the country.
The project adopts a community development and inclusion approach to strengthen relationships and promote shared understanding within local areas.
Project Aims and Outcomes
- Build community capacity and promote social cohesion in response to integration challenges.
- Improve understanding of the International Protection process and the experiences of asylum seekers.
- Counter misinformation through accurate information and dialogue.
- Support collaboration between communities, statutory bodies, and voluntary partners.
- Strengthen community resilience and positive engagement with integration efforts.
- Develop adaptable, inclusive, community-led models of engagement nationwide.
