About

Our Mission at WorkAbility Inclusive Pathways to Employment Galway City is to empower individuals with disabilities, helping them overcome employment barriers through tailored supports, skill development, and work experience, while building inclusive workplaces across Galway City.

By doing this, the programme aims to improve employment prospects by focusing on individuals distant from the labour market (e.g. those with disabilities or mental ill-health related issues).

We offer a holistic approach that ensures each participant gets tailored support through our Personal Progression Plans.

By deeply embedding inclusion into workplace cultures, our programme builds a sustainable, locally rooted impact.

Our Steering Committee includes diverse voices from a wide range of stakeholders across Galway City.

These include representation from Access for All Galway, Galway Chamber of Commerce, Galway City Partnership, Brothers of Charity, Department of Social Protection and GRETB.

This programme is co-funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Social Protection and the European Union from 2024-2028

Key Supports

We provide training, work experience, and job coaching to enhance job readiness for employment or self-employment.
We offer toolkits and support to local Galway employers, guiding them on inclusive recruitment and retention practices. We collaborate with all multi-stakeholder partnerships among people with disabilities, disability services, employment agencies, schools, and employers.
We offer Peer support where our participants that often face similar challenges (e.g., discrimination, anxiety, lack of confidence) can share in this group that offers a safe space where people feel understood and less isolated. This kind of peer support helps build a sense of community and belonging, reducing feelings of marginalisation and issolation.
Our Disability Awareness Training is delivered by those with the lived experience that brings a unique strength and authenticity. Our voices carry not just information, but insight, empathy, and truth that cannot be replicated through theory. Challenging assumptions and finding empowerment our lived experience highlights stereotypes in a way that statistics alone cannot.
Our training humanises disability, highlighting individual capability, resilience, and diversity. It encourages others to move beyond outdated narratives of pity or limitation, and toward a mindset of inclusion, respect, and opportunity. We feel this is hugely important when delivering to employers in Galway City.
