Community Link Worker
About
The Community Link Worker supports local communities as they prepare for and respond to the arrival of people seeking asylum (International Protection Applicants).
This role is part of the Community Connection Project, which focuses on promoting inclusion, building trust, and strengthening community responses to change.
Using a community development approach, the Community Link Worker works with residents to understand concerns, share accurate information about the International Protection system, and encourage open, respectful dialogue.
The aim is to support communities in becoming informed, welcoming, and resilient.
Key Supports
The Community Link Worker provides the following supports:
- Listening and Engagement: Connecting with residents to understand local concerns and explore practical responses together.
- Reliable Information: Sharing clear, accurate facts to help counter misinformation about migration and asylum.
- Community Connections: Linking residents with local services, voluntary groups, and public bodies to strengthen local networks.
- Collaborative Planning: Supporting communities in identifying local needs and developing inclusive action plans.
